Aboard the Legacy, we didn’t have to travel far before the adventure began. Just off the San Diego coast, southbound humpbacks appeared—massive, graceful, and astonishingly close to home. Their blows echoed across the water as they cruised alongside us, unhurried on their winter migration. Because they were so close, we enjoyed extra time with these majestic mammals, watching their flukes rise and fall and their sleek backs shimmer beneath the sun. It was one of those rare trips where the ocean seemed to bring its wonders right to our doorstep, and we soaked in every unforgettable moment.
