05.31.2025 AM Whale Watch Recap

The Saturday morning whale watching trip on May 31, 2025 started at 9:30 and ended around noon. The waters were calm with a marine layer lingering until we got about 5 miles off shore. The group had a great encounter with a mega pod of common dolphin. We estimated between 1,000 to 1,500 of them. They appeared to be long-beaked common dolphins. Captain Shawn continued westward out about 10-11 miles where many on board were delighted to see the back and dorsal fin of a feeding minke whale. This species is elusive and it’s so lucky to see one. Everyone had a great time on board and the positive vibes never fizzled.
