6.28.2025 AM Whale Watch We Got Whales!
An unforgettable day on the water! We spotted a minke whale, known as one of the smallest and fastest baleen whales—usually shy and hard to track, so catching a glimpse was a real treat.
We also encountered multiple humpback whales, famous for their long pectoral fins and acrobatic surface behaviors. Their massive flukes and blows were a highlight of the trip.
The showstopper, though, was a megapod of common dolphins—hundreds, maybe thousands, racing alongside the boat. These dolphins are highly social and fast swimmers, often leaping through the surf and riding the wake.
A fantastic day with an incredible variety of marine life!

Captain Sean
It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day aboard the Legacy on our 6/28 AM trip with smooth sailing conditions and a beautiful display of marine life! We didn’t have to go far before we saw the smallest of the baleen whales, the Minke whale. Small but mighty, this species is sometimes elusive but we were fortunate enough that this whale gave us some great looks! After watching for a bit, we waved goodbye and continued on our journey. We saw a small pod of common dolphins and then the real payoff, a beautiful humpback whale! This whale fluked several times, giving us a beautiful look at the underside of its tail (which scientists use to identify them.) After watching several breath cycles and even getting to hear it’s breath and see the tubercle bumps on the top of its head, it was time to head for home. On the way back we saw another pod of about 150 common dolphins and even the fluke of another humpback! It was an absolutely gorgeous day on the water with some fantastic passengers and the marine life showed up for them in full force! As always, you can book your trip here on our website or by calling us at 619-309-1680. We hope to see you soon!
