7.2.2025 AM & PM Whale Watch

On our recent trip aboard the Legacy, we were treated to an unforgettable day on the water with both common and bottlenose dolphins.

The common dolphins arrived first, racing toward the boat in a large, energetic pod. They leapt through the waves and rode the bow, giving us a spectacular display of speed and agility.

Later, a small group of bottlenose dolphins appeared, moving gracefully alongside us. Their slower, curious behavior offered a peaceful contrast—surfacing close to the boat and even giving us a few tail slaps.

Calm seas and great visibility made for perfect viewing conditions. A truly special day with two amazing dolphin species!

07.02.25 Whale Counts
An enthusiastic group departed Mission Bay hoping to see whales and dolphins. During the second-half of this morning’s cruise we encountered two pods totaling 75 Common Dolphins. The dolphins surrounded the boat, displayed mating behaviors, and rode the Legacy’s wake. Although we didn’t spot any whales this trip, all aboard did get some great dolphin pictures and videos.
As always, you can book your trip here on our website or by calling us at 619-309-1680. We hope to see you soon!

Wed., July 2, 2025, afternoon
We left under cloudy skies, which gradually cleared throughout the afternoon. The ocean was calm, without white caps. The big excitement of the afternoon was a pod of about 50 offshore Bottlenose dolphin who seemed to be feeding when we first saw them. After we got closer, we saw lots of young ones in the pod, some quite small. Many of them started surfing in our waves, making some high leaps and some tail slapping.
