Our whale watching safari aboard The Legacy turned into an unforgettable expedition when the captain caught word of two different whale species spotted beyond the usual range. Trusting his instincts, he took the gamble and ventured farther out—and it paid off. First, we were treated to awe-inspiring views of a humpback whale, its powerful fluke rising gracefully from the water before disappearing into the deep. Then, against all odds, we encountered a late-season gray whale still making its way north, its slow, steady pace a quiet testament to the long journey of migration. Though the drive was long, the reward was immense—two remarkable encounters that made every mile worth it.
