5.6.26 Whale Watch AM & PM
It was an amazing day on the legacy! Both trips were filled with excitement the entire time.
In the morning we headed south west and found ourselves surrounded by common dolphins the whole time on our way to the 9 Mile bank where the larger baleen have been found the last couple of days. Once we got to the bank we found four humpbacks actively feeding. We got to watch them roll around and eat the amble amount of bait in the water. We also got brief looks at a fin whale and Minke whale in the area
For our afternoon trip we headed back to the same area, but the whales multiplied! There were bait balls and whales as far as the eye could see. We encountered at least 10 humpbacks, and one mom and calf pair. The baby Humpback was particularly playful, practicing his breaching and peduncle slaps right next to the boat as mom fed on the bait below, all why we were in a megapod of dolphins!
It was one for the books.
